From the Artist:

I’ve been asked by a lot of friends and clients “so what’s your favorite thing to paint?”. It’s a hard question because almost everything inspires me. But sometimes I get a few free days to do what I want, and this painting is a result! I spent a lot of time in Illinois growing up. I spent so many days there chasing deer with my camera and hiking the hardwoods and fields, studying deer habitat. You can see how much I love doing that because of each meticulously rendered twig and branch in the forest, and each slightly differently colored leaf and the dozens of types of plants all mingled together in the November field. It’s therapeutic for me to sit and immerse myself in these details.

In this painting, a proud Whitetail buck is in the mating season. He has found a doe and her child from the year before and is courting the mother. In late fall, a buck will defend his mate at all costs and will be so busy he won’t even eat. In this scene, he sees you as you’ve stumbled upon these deer in a small opening in the woods. He stands regally in front of his companions, defending them from you and whatever else he thinks could be a threat. He’s a protector!

Walking with Jesus by Abraham Hunter

Walking with Jesus by Abraham Hunter

Walking with Jesus AH Chromatics Edit Flat Joomla

From the Artist:

Years ago, I began a journey of discovering my desire to paint stories from the Bible when I painted my first piece of Jesus walking on the water for my grandmother. I’m very proud to release to everyone my latest painting and also the last painting in this series. “Walking With Jesus” depicts the glorious moment right after Christ rescued Peter from the waves. Pulling him up, Jesus said to Peter, “Why did you doubt?” And together they walked back to the boat as the storm cleared. So many of us have been programmed to be afraid of God when we mess up and doubt. When I read the story, I see this as a joyful moment because we understand Jesus is pure love, forgiving and helping us in our human failings with his arms around us and a warm smile on his face. Jesus turned an experience as horrible as losing faith in front of onlookers and nearly drowning and dying into a beautiful and happy moment not only Peter treasured, but all believers will treasure for all time! In this painting, Jesus shows Peter how to walk on the water to the boat putting their right feet forward one at a time. He is holding Peters trembling hand and upholding him with his right arm lovingly wrapped around Peter in what I like to call the “bro hug”. Jesus was not a distant, unseen, scary entity dwelling somewhere that we could never be good enough to go to... He is God with us! When we try our hardest but still mess up, Jesus clears our storm, rescues, teaches, helps, and loves us as he puts us right back on top of the water, walking with Him bathed in the light shining from the Father in Heaven! The story I’ve painted here is what a life of walking with Christ is all about!

Artist Notes:

Creating an image that can capture the feelings I experience when I’m in the mountains is something I attempt to do over and over again. In truth, it can’t be captured. The sheer size and scope of the mountains can only be comprehended while standing in their midst.

Bonnie and I were hiking up in the Tetons a couple of years ago with Colter, and we took hundreds of photos trying to “get it all in,” but nothing seems to ever do it justice.  So, back in my studio, I stretch a larger than life canvas and close my eyes and picture what I felt and saw when I was there. Peeking at a few of those photos, I begin to create a design and arrangement that is what I wish I could find every time I am in the wilderness, and this time the pieces came together in a way that pleased me most. We chose to reproduce “Majestic Solitude” in two grandiose sizes so it would convey the spectacular scale of these creations by God - the Teton Mountains.  The mountains are viewed from the south - looking north from the Taggert Lake Trail area. I hope you get the feeling that I felt when I was there - standing on an edge of a cliff ... soaking in the glory of God and His creation.

From the Artist:

Few of us have experienced the reality of rail travel as a way of life. It was a thing of the distant past - I’d say about 1950 when that way of life came to an end, and we all began to have our own cars for traveling. When the whistle would blow, back then, people came from the nearby neighborhoods to see who might be coming home, or to pick up a loved one they had been expecting for some time. It is these warm feelings that I’m trying to portray in this winter scene - a contrast of bitter cold and warm feelings of reunion and joy. I know my grandparents traveled quite a bit like this, as they were broadcast performers for radio stations around the south, singing and playing the piano live for an audience over the airwaves. My how things change.

Paris City of Lights RC 18x24Crop Edit2 Flat Joomla

Artist Notes:

Paris, City of Lights is a special painting that came about as a result of a family trip to France in 2016. While in Paris, my youngest son and I spent several days photographing various sites. One night while we were out photographing, France reached the soccer finals of the UEFA Euro. That night, a crowd of over 90,000 excited fans gathered near the Eiffel Tower to watch the final match against Portugal on a large screen. It was quite a sight and the crowd could be heard for miles. While the game was being played, I took the photos and made some sketches on which this painting is based. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks, not just in Paris, but in the world. The majestic iron tower is both an amazing feat of engineering and an inspiring symbol of the City of Lights.
